This is distinct signal.
A multimedia design folio for ali mcwalter.
This is an ongoing piece of work to show various things I am constantly learning and producing over time. It covers web design, digital design, flash, animation, print design and a little illustration.
mpower (mpowerscotland.org) site is now complete. The second half of the project, the festival site (which I am also in charge of designing), will commence very shortly. Happy days.
More news on the progress and line up of the festival as and when I get it!

I have finished the low-fi, budgetless viral for The Insider Festival. It's got some fairly decent response and has spread fairly well via youtube etc.
Here it is...
Insider Weekend 26th-29th June from Ali Macca on Vimeo.
The insider. Festival fun in the Highlands. Sleep with a spider and eat quails eggs whilst listening to men with long hair play instruments.

Last week I was up in Aviemore filming for a viral. In the process many a mishap happened. We were fortunate only to lose a symbol and stand and not a human life.
Editing of the footage starts in earnest today. I'll keep you posted.

With the news that the UK was ordering 30 000 000 face masks for the swine flu pandemic, I thought there might have been a niche in the market for some designer ones... Unfortunately someone is ahead of the game.

I'm sure with a little work there is something to be done with this!

I spotted this yesterday. Not only does Co-Op have a fine selection of wines, it also has the one and only wine shark. Check the bottom right of this photo...
A real life wine shark.

The grid system.
A nice source of inspiration. I like this style a lot, squares and rectangles and visually pleasing layouts.

I'm kinda used to making visual pictures but here is my friend Billy (the poet) aka William Lettford painting pictures with words on BBC Scotland. It's one of his short stories, preformed by Billy too. It's pretty awesome, it starts at around 1 min 45 secs in.

New Flash animation made as part of a number of visuals for an upcoming DJ night called CRYPITK in Edinburgh, hosted at Sneaky Pete's. There will be of more of these types of thing coming up as you canny just have one wee animation playing on loop all night, unless it's accompanying drone or something.
Enjoy.
